Africa rapid relief to save dying children
Soil and soul initiative is giving away $35,000 to the rapid relief fund in order to reduce the number of lives lost due to the cutting of funding of U.S. Agency for International Development put into action by Elon Musk's DOGE. This goes to show that compassion is necessary in any field in life.
The FP Rapid Response Fund bridges urgent gaps in evidence-based programs disrupted by USAID cuts, prioritizing family planning, reproductive health, and related global health interventions (e.g., contraception distribution, nutrition support). It provides "bridge funding" to prevent immediate stockouts and closures, sustaining services for 1-2 months until alternative funding or reallocations occur.
In the short term, this donation could fund targeted actions like procuring emergency contraceptive supplies, supporting local clinics to avoid shutdowns, or distributing nutrition packets—directly averting deaths from unsafe abortions, child malnutrition, or untreated infections. For example, it might cover costs for ~10,000-15,000 contraceptive units (at ~$2-3/unit) or nutrition interventions for hundreds of children, preventing rapid-onset crises.
